Closed Until Further Notice

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

As of Monday March 16th, 2020, my clinic will be closed to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. I will continue to monitor the situation and update all patients when I plan to re-open. This decision was made in compliance with local public health ordinances and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

If you are interested in booking into April and May you are most welcome to do so, understanding that things are still uncertain and there is a possibility that these bookings may have to be rescheduled.

For anyone wishing to offer support in lieu of making appointments, I am happy to offer gift certificates or issue account credits for redemption at a later time. Contact me directly by phone or e-mail (see below) to arrange payment.

**Please note that insurance receipts will be issued for treatments paid with account credits only, and that receipts will be issued on date of treatment.**

As a thank you for your ongoing support, I'd like to offer a discount of 10% on treatments purchased now.

Wishing you and your loved ones good health,

Colette Slone, RMT

UPDATE- March 31st, 2020

As per the College of Massage Therapists (CMTO) and the order of the Premier to close all non-essential businesses, my clinic will remain CLOSED until Early May. The CMTO has determined that Massage Therapy does not constitute emergency care, and therefore has mandated that all Massage Therapists cease practising to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

I will continue to comply with these orders and will update all patients when more information arrives.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I will continue to be available for video or phone conversations to provide advice for any immediate strains or pain.

March 14, 2020

I want to assure all of my patients that I am taking all appropriate measures to ensure that my clinic is a safe environment. All appropriate sanitization protocols are being followed including:

  • Sanitization of all frequently touched hard surfaces including doorknobs, payment terminal, table and face cradle with hospital-grade cleaning agents prior to, and after, each treatment.
  • Frequent hand-washing before and after each treatment for 20 seconds.
  • Use of UV-sterilized hot towels.
  • Use of disposable cups for drinking water.
  • All linens (including blankets) being changed after each patient and disinfected using bleach and hot water.
  • Use of personal protective equipment when in contact with non-intact skin.

In addition, as recommended by Canadian Health authorities, I will be increasing communications and screenings prior to appointments and asking patients to reschedule their appointments if:

  • There has been a history of any international travel within the last 2 weeks or CLOSE contact with a friend or family member who has traveled recently.
  • There has been a suspected or possible close contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19.
  • They are experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath or any flu-/cold- like symptoms.

As symptoms can develop quickly, any last minute cancellations can be made without penalty.

I will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be updating my website and social media pages regularly if any of the recommendations change. Should I or anyone in my household become sick or exposed to COVID-19, I will cancel all appointments and take appropriate measures to protect the public.

Wishing you good health,

Colette Slone, RMT

Bio

Colette is a graduate of Sutherland-Chan School in Toronto and a member in good standing of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. She has been in practise since January 2016.

Colette focuses on relieving pain and discomfort by taking the time to assess your needs, goals and specific concerns. Her clinical focus is head/neck and jaw pain, with a special interest in the use of neuro-physiological techniques and a patient-driven approach to treatment. She believes in utilizing a range of modalities including:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage
  • Facial Cupping
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Myo-fascial release techniques
  • Remedial Exercise prescription
Her additional training includes the Dr. Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage method, myo-fascial release for neck, voice and swallowing disorders, TMJ dysfunctions, pre- and post-natal treatment and pelvic health issues.

The foundation of her practise is based on three pillars: Patient Values; Communication; and Available Evidence. Your beliefs, history, view points and needs are all extremely important. Colette believes in taking the time to learn about you and invites you to provide her with as much information as you feel comfortable to give you the best possible massage treatment that's right for you.

Communication, both verbal and non-verbal, are an essential component of health care and informed consent. In order to meet your needs and comfort level during treatment, Colette will ensure that communication pathways are clear and open. Should you have any specific concerns or communication preferences, those will be reviewed prior to treatment.

You can expect Colette to provide you with the most up-to-date information regarding best practises and evidence in massage therapy. She does her best to stay informed via research literature, continuing education and peer-led discussion.  In addition to keeping updated on manual therapy research, Colette incorporates a trauma-informed lens into her practise, and highly values in an inter-disciplinary approach to health-care.

About the Clinic

Colette's Clinic is located within the Birmingham Business Centre. Built in 1926, this property was originally the Bell Telephone building and after extensive upgrades has been given heritage designation. It is situated just east of Islington Avenue, north of Lake Shore Blvd West. Unfortunately, the building is currently not wheelchair accessible.

Colette's clinic is a warm, welcoming and safe space. She uses unscented, eco-friendly lotions and laundry soap to minimize chemical sensitivities. During your treatments, you are invited to select your music preference (or silence), and every effort is made to ensure you feel safe, secure and comfortable during your visit. Your well-being and comfort are her top priorities!
