FAQs

Are you covered under my benefits plan?
As a Registered Massage Therapist, my treatments are covered by most benefit plans. Contact your insurance provider directly for details prior to your treatment if this is your first time getting massage therapy. I provide an insurance receipt at the end of your treatment.

Do you offer direct billing?
I offer direct billing in some cases, depending on your insurance provider. Please see my Rates page for a complete list of all participating insurers.

In the event that your insurer is listed, please be prepared to provide proof of coverage at your first visit (your benefits card). Your claim will be submitted, but we cannot guarantee that your claim will be approved. Please be prepared to provide payment for your treatment.

Is there Parking?

Yes. Free street parking is available on Hallmark Avenue, directly in front of my building. Please do no use the tenant's parking lot.

I have difficulty wearing a mask. Can I still get a massage?

There are many masks that can be worn comfortably and enable regular breathing. Higher quality medical masks and lightweight cotton masks can provide adequate protection with minimal discomfort.

At this time, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario has mandated that masks MUST be worn by both patient and therapist. If you have a severe medical condition that significantly affects your breathing, the risks of receiving massage are likely too high at this time and I would recommend not receiving treatment at this time.

Is it safe to receive massage during COVID?

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario has indicated that massage therapy treatments may be performed provided that benefits of receiving treatment outweigh the risks.

I am committed to providing you with as safe an environment as possible, with pre-screening measures, regular self-testing, adequate PPE and rigorous sanitization measures observed. However, these efforts never fully eliminate the risks.

If you are immuno-compromised,  currently pregnant or have a severe medical condition affecting your heart, lungs, kidneys or circulation, you are in a higher-risk group and the benefits may not outweigh the risks at this time. Please reach out if you would like to discuss your specific goals for treatment.

What types of massage do you offer?
I provide therapeutic massage therapy treatment with the option of including the following:

  • Aromatherapy
  • K-Taping

Depending on your needs and goals I also offer relaxation, sports and injury-rehab approaches in my treatments.

Do you offer deep-tissue massage?

I treat at the depth that is required to achieve your treatment goals. I am able to provide both lighter and firmer pressure treatments, using a variety of techniques ranging from broad to specific. My goal is to leave you feeling better the next day. If you do request deeper techniques, you must be aware that this may increase the risk of post-massage soreness. However, I guarantee I will do my utmost to make sure your treatment feels good for you.

Do you offer pregnancy massage?

Yes! I work with pre- and post natal patients from 1st to 3rd trimester and beyond.

How does mobile massage therapy work?

I come to your home to provide you with a massage therapy treatment. Just like a clinic treatment, you should be ready to relax and keep surrounding distractions (phone, TV, pets) to a minimum.

Please note that at this time, I am only offering mobile treatments to existing patients on a limited basis.

What are my payment options?
I accept payment by cash, cheque, debit, e-Transfer, VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Google Pay and Apple Pay. An insurance receipt is provided at the end of each treatment.

Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes! Please ask me about that in person or over the phone.

I have sensitive skin/allergies. What type of lotion do you use?

I use an unscented nut-free lotion. I also have Holly oil available which is great for eczema and sensitive skin. If you have any severe or contact allergies, please let me know in advance.

Should I tip?
You are welcome to tip if you like, but I also appreciate word-of-mouth referrals and social media support

I'm sick. Should I keep my appointment?
No. If you get sick, please contact me to cancel your appointment. Due to COVID, I have decided to waive all cancellation fees due to sickness. If you have a fever or any other suspicious symptoms, please contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.

What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your appointment for any reason other than sickness.  If you miss your appointment without contacting me first, you will be invoiced for 50% of the treatment fee. Please note that insurance providers do not cover missed appointments.

Do I need a doctor's note for massage therapy?

Some insurance providers do require a prescription or medical note for massage therapy. Please review your coverage information prior to booking an appointment. If you do require a note, you can download a massage therapy requisition form under the Forms page, and bring it to your doctor to have it filled out. Please keep a copy of the form for your records, and bring the original form to your first appointment.

How can I access my files?

You can have access to your treatment files any time you wish, and for up to 10 years following your last visit/appointment. Please let me know via phone or e-mail if/ when you want copies of your treatment notes. A fee of 25 cents per page will be charged for printing your records, plus postage where applicable. Please allow 1-2 business days to process your request.

My lawyer needs a copy of my treatment notes for court- how can they access them?

Prior to your records being release to your legal representative, you will be asked to sign a consent to release form. Your documents will be sent directly to your legal representative and they will be invoiced for copying and transfer.
